Golf Hip Slide

Tour Sticks Full Swing Drills

Golf Hip Slide

Golfers who display this fault generally start the backswing sequence with their lower body. The right knee and left thigh move away from the target and accompany the tilting and hanging back of the upper body, which creates a reverse spine angle.

By sticking one Tour Stick in the ground just outside the right foot and laying the other on the ground parallel to the target line, we can create a simple, yet effective exercise. As you can see in the photograph, the rotation of the upper body and spine angle has resulted in the right hip and trouser pocket rotating behind the standing Tour Stick with the spine angled slightly away from the ball.

A player who starts their backswing sequence with the lower body will feel the fault as their right knee and thigh will bump and possibly move the Tour Stick.
